Seeds in the Ground

Rain and wind last night and this morning have brought in more seasonable temperatures, which are almost 20 degrees cooler than we’ve had the past two days.  We spent those lovely days working in the garden, getting the frame and foundation together for the green house and putting in rows of beets and carrots.  Next up are collards.  It’s been nice to be joined by a friend and her kids who were willing to chip in with the digging, raking and sowing.  It’s great to see children exposed to the farming life in their early formative years as both of us came from gardening families and the lessons we learned along have stuck with us and played a role in our decision to move to the farm in the first place.

We’re still looking for the rain to move out so we can continue working.  And our friend brought carrot soup that will make a healthy lunch.
